In order to continue developing, Slovakia needs a diversified economy including tertiary industries and sectors like tourism, where today there are more than 20,000 entrepreneurs contributing to the economic growth of the country. Therefore it is necessary to support tourism, as it is one of the fastest growing industries and one of the industries with tremendous potential for continued growth. The Slovak Service Quality System in Tourism (SSQST) is a key contributor to the future development of this important industry.
SSQST is supervised and coordinated by the Ministry of Transport and Construction of the Slovak Republic. The system is based on the objective outlined in the Strategy of Tourism Development by 2020: “Improving the competitiveness of tourism by better using its potential, with the aim of reducing regional disparities and creating new job opportunities“. Activities focused on the improvement of the quality of tourism services shall contribute to the fulfilment of this strategic goal.
SSQST is based on the requirements of the SSQST Standard issued by the Ministry of Transport and Construction of the Slovak Republic.
